I met Professor Widmer when I was an undergraduate student at Brown University. He was very kind and supportive of the then newly formed Asian American Student Association. Dr Widmer´s obituary, in its own right, is a worthy read. I do remember his years at Deerfield, and his ground-breaking appointment by King Abdullah. What an amazing life, and appreciation to his family for sharing this.

I only met him a few times during my 14 years at DA, as I arrived after his tenure there. Eric was such a lovely, kind person. My first time hearing him speak was when he was addressing the students and sharing his story of how he came to Deerfield from the "other part of Connecticut". His openness and vulnerability from the stage was truly engaging and endearing. And there goes one brilliant educator and an honorable and memorable human being. Not many like him. His gifts will indeed be savored for generations of teachers, students, and colleagues. I personally will miss him, but will hold him close in my heart! Thank you, dear friend!
