Not sure what to say?

I was sorry to learn of the passing of Professor Hoffmann. I took his course entitled Soviet Politics at SUNY Albany in the mid-1970's. He was a brilliant teacher who inspired me to pursue excellence in my studies and career.

I was sorry to see him retire, and sorry to learn that he is gone. His education and professional development unfolded during the harsh realities of the cold war days. My favorite courses in grad school were with Erik. I shared his fascination with Soviet politics. He had a remarkably acute intelligence as well as a voluminous knowledge of the subject matter. Professor Hoffmann was a superior researcher and educator. But more importantly, he was an extremely warm and...
