Erin Parkinson

1960 - 2022

Erin Fury Parkinson, 62 of New Orleans, Louisiana and Estes Park, Colorado passed away surrounded by her loving family on Friday, December 30, 2022 after a lengthy illness. Erin was born February 4, 1960 to Nicholas and Lynn Fury in New Orleans. After graduating from Archbishop Chapelle High School, she attended Loyola University where she graduated magna cum laude. After taking a few years off to raise a family, Erin enrolled at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law to earn her Juris Doctor graduating magna cum laude in 1993. Erin was passionate about the rule of law and she was a creative and tenacious lawyer who gained the trust and confidence of many clients and the respect of her opponents, peers, and judges. Erin was a leader, pioneering legal strategies and precedent and achieving favorable resolutions of the most complex matters. She was relentless in her convictions and the epitome of a zealous advocate. She selflessly donated her time to those in need, volunteering for decades to provide legal services to the homeless. Erin also mentored dozens of younger attorneys and was a constant champion of women attorneys and an advocate for diversity, equity, and inclusion. She also loved pranks and warmed the halls of her office with an infectious laugh. Erin was admitted to practice law in all state and federal district courts in Louisiana and Texas, the United States Supreme Court and the United States Courts of Appeal for the Fifth, Ninth, and Eleventh Circuits. Erin adored her family, especially her grandkids. "Mimi" would play games, work on puzzles, read books and crawl around on the ground with her grandkids showering them with a love as only a grandmother can. The kids in turn loved her right back. She is survived by her husband of forty years, Bob; two sons Blake (Robyn) and Adam (Kristen); six grandchildren, Camryn, Dexter, Jonah, Elise, Julia, and Max; parents Nick and Lynn Fury; brothers Blaine (Sandy) and Gavin (Monique); sisters Kim Jennings (Mike) and Cory Brainard (Mike); sister-in-law Nancy Natoli (Ross); eleven nieces and nephews; and many aunts and uncles. A mass will be held at Lake Lawn Metairie Funeral Home, 5100 Pontchartrain Blvd. in New Orleans on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at 11:00AM. Visitation will begin at 9:00AM. Interment will be private. The Parkinson family wants to give special thanks to everyone, especially the dedicated and remarkable nurses, who provided help, comfort, and prayers during Erin's long multi hospital stay. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to the Harry Tompson Center in New Orleans or the Larimer Humane Society in Loveland, Colorado.
