PEKIN - Ruth Erline Hooker, 86, of Pekin passed away at 7:53 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 20, 2015, at her home.
Born Sept. 19, 1929, in Chaffee, Mo., to Joseph D. and Georgia L. (Redfern) Proctor, she married Pastor Eugene R. Hooker on April 15, 1949, in Hernando, Miss. He survives.
Also surviving are one son, Pastor James R. (Beth) Hooker of Wood River; three daughters, Kathy (Dennis) Schoenman of Washington, Theresa L. (Glen) Belcher of Saltillo, Miss., and Tina S. (Lee) Watson of Guntown, Miss.; seven grandchildren, Brian Schoenman, Brandon (Erin) Schoenman, Andrea (Joe) Pritchard, Zachary Belcher, Ethan Belcher, Kaylee (Anthony) Thompson and Schyler Watson; two great-grandchildren, Audrey Schoenman and Titus Pritchard; and two brothers, Woodrow Proctor of Cape Girardeau, Mo., and Joe (Joann) Proctor of Herrin.
She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters.
A homemaker, Erline was devoted to her family. She will be remembered as a generous and caring person who was very strong in her faith.
While she had been in ill health for several years, she was a rock and a great help to her husband in over 65 years of ministry.
She enjoyed sewing and cooking.
She worked for a time as a bus monitor for Hoyle School Transportation in Pekin.
She was a member of New Life Christian Fellowship in North Pekin.
Her funeral will be at 1:30 p.m. today, Dec. 23, 2015, at Preston-Hanley Funeral Homes & Crematory in Pekin. Pastor Charles Wilcox and Pastor James Hooker, her son, will officiate. Visitation will be one hour before the funeral. Burial will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens.
