Dear Joan,

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your husband. This message may be a little late, but I just wanted to let you know that you have been in my thoughts and prayers.

I sincerely hope that you will have many happy memories, and that those memories will bring you peace and comfort.

My heart goes out to you and your family at this time. I am sorry I did not know sooner. from what I have come to know of you and your family in talking wiith you and in class. I know in my heart that you are all to be admired and looked upto.
