I remember Ernie well! I served with him on the Wheat Ridge Fire department. After an alarm, we would hang out at Ernie's restaurant Swiss Bells for a while.

Ernie, you will always be in our thoughts with your big smile and big bear hugs. You came into our lives a short while ago but really touched our hearts. We will really miss you.

This is from Fred and Jeanne Gschwend. We just learned of Ernie's passing and are so sorry to have missed the services. Fred's dad, Leo Gschwend, always considered Ernie as his dearest friend. These two buddies did so much together. Ernie was the only chef that Leo would allow to prepare the food for our wedding reception nearly 39 years ago. He was a happy, fun-loving man who was always so sweet, kind and generous.
We will miss him and always remember him with smiles on our faces and love in our hearts.

I first met Ernie 1976 in the Swiss Bells Restaurant in Wheat Ridge. From the first moment I felt, he was a special man for me. Each time when I visit him with my wife Gabi we had a wonderful funny time together in Evergreen and in Switzerland. We always remember Ernie's hospitality and how much he made us feel at home when staying with him. We will never forget him! Erwin and Gabi from Switzerland

I first met Ernie soon after I had joined the Wheat Ridge Fire Department in 1973. Always smiling. After calls especially in the early hours, a lot of us would come to Swiss Bells for breakfast. I loved the food he prepared there. It was always good.I will miss him but he is in a better place now. My condolences to his family. David Willmann Denver Co.

I will remember Ernie's beaming smile and warm welcome he greeted us with every time he came to class. Always a gentleman. May you rest in peace.
