Not sure what to say?

Mr. Fears knew my dad and was so kind to offer me an internship at Q107 when I was a sophomore at American University in 1978. It was a great learning experience for me and to have the chance to know Ernie was a highlight of my college years. He was always kind and always took the time with me. Thank you and God Bless his family.

ERNIE FEARS AND I WERE TEAMMATES ON THE SOUTHERN AREA COMMAND BASKETBALL TEAM IN MUNICH. GERMANY. IWAS RECRUITING TEACHERS AT NORFOLK STATE COLLEGE WHEN MR. FEARS WAS COACH. I MET MR. DANDRIDGE IN MR. FEAR'S OFFICE. HE WAS SITTING ON THE WINDOW LEDGE. MR. FEARS POINTED TO HIM AND SAID, 'LARRY, TAKE A GOOD LOOK AT THIS YOUNG MAN. HE WILL BE AN NBA ALL PRO IN FIVE YEARS!!!! I am sorry I missed it by 5 day but I will never forget. Dear Professor Fears you were my mentor at Howard.

Coach Fears is truly adored and loved by all of those he met especially the Dandridge family who entrusted my development to him. He did not fail any of us and gave far more than anyone expected. The man that showed me how to be a man in every spirital sense. I love Coach dearly and Fears you are always with me. Thanks.

Whereas, we the members of the Washington, DC Chapter of Florida A&M University National Alumni Association, the "Mighty, Mighty, DC Rattlers" are sharing along with the Fears family and the whole Rattler Nation, the loss of one of our most faithful graduates Ernest Fears, Jr. May his good works never be forgotten, may his many loves cherish him and may we all hold him in warm regard. Although he no longer walks the earth, we know he is in a better place with other great Rattlers like Costa...

"We're a TEAM"

And when Ernie Fears said that at the top of his lungs you couldn't disagree...we WERE a team. I'm proud to say that I was a small part of a rag-tag group of radio people that he turned into a winning team at a place called Q107. A station that came out of nowhere and went from the bottom of the ratings to the very top in a flash and stayed there for many years. Ernie always knew we would win because there wasn't another option. When I left the station in...

In fond memory of a man who embraced life with enthusiasm and undying spirit, we give thanks for having been able to share part of our lives with Ernie Fears.

My deepest symapthies go out to the children and family of Mr Ernie Fears. He is a man, who will truly be missed by Howard University, the radio community and humanity as a whole.

My roommate introduced me to Ernie Fears' class and I started skipping my classes in another school to attend his-- and he never put me out. He welcomed me. Because of that I took chances in life and found what I wanted professionally and life in general. We went on to have a great friendship and I kept in...
