LOEWENTHAL, Ernst G. Died early Saturday, July 15, 2006 after a short illness. He is survived by his dearly loved wife of 65 years, Irma, his beloved sons, Ed and Bob, daughters-in-law, Debby and Karen; and his cherished grandchildren, Cholena, Tavia, Aaron, Casey and Trevor and his soon to be grandson Dana Nelson. Ernie was born in Berlin, Germany on May 11, 1918. He immigrated to Shanghai in 1939 where he met Irma Nudelmann. They were married in 1941, moving to San Francisco in 1948, where both of their sons were born and raised. Ernie worked at a variety of jobs in California, from toll taker on the Bay Bridge, to machinist to DMV driving inspector. He finally settled on a career in accounting and created his business, Ernie's Bookkeeping. When their boys were grown, Irma and Ernie moved to Lake Tahoe, CA for 6 years and then settled in Carson City, Nevada, where Bob and Ed built their dream house for them. While living in Nevada, Ernie pursued a new profession, he opened a travel agency, Bonanza World Travel in 1979. Taking advantage of their business, Ernie took Irma all over the world, enjoying many different countries and cultures. In 1990 they decided to move to the Bay Area to be closer to their family. They made their new home at the Westlake Springs adult apartments, where Ernie became the president of the residents association. In 2005 they moved to the Oak View apartments in Rohnert Park. Ernie always had a joke to tell, he adored dog sitting his grand-puppy, Jess, he loved to travel to the casinos to play the slot machines and always enjoyed a good meal, especially dessert! Ernie will be profoundly missed by his family and many dear friends. A memorial service will be held to celebrate his life on Monday, July 24 at 2:30 p.m. at the Rohnert Park Community Center garden room.
