We miss you Uncle Eugene. I will always have fond memories of you. When I think of you I smile because that is what you shared with the world. A kind smile, a hleping hand and a sense of humor. Those are great characteristics to have. That always makes people feel good and want to be around you. You have passed that on to your children and I know they will keep your Spirit alive. Thanks for being you! Love, your niece Debbie Watkins

There is no one in this world I'd be prouder to call my grandpa.
Pop was a man who accomplished everything he set out to do, regardless of the odds set against him. I grew up knowing that Pop put himself through thirteen years of night school, while working two jobs and raising three girls. I grew up knowing how hard and how long he selflessly persevered in order to ensure his family's well-being. With such an extraordinary example set before me, I've never been afraid to pursue my dreams. Pop taught me what it meant to set a goal and work hard and to honestly achieve it. He taught me what it means to never be afraid of failures, to keep my promises, and to fiercely love my family.
Though he is gone, his spirit remains infectious. In those dark spaces, when hope seems lost and laughter so far away, I'll remember my grandpa's optimism and his sense of humor, his constant reassurance that everything serious was worth a good laugh.
I love you Pop,
Misty

Daddy has been training me for this day for several years.
He wanted to inspire in all of us, kindness, generosity, honesty, integrity, business sense and most of all his love for people. He was the father that all my friends wanted. He was the father that all his employees wanted.
He talked me through installing my own electrical outlets, through repairing my plumbing problems, through being lost all over the city of Houston (and you know how lost all of us girls get), he talked me through some of the hardest times in my life.
He is talking me through this right now. He is not only in my heart, he is in my head and I am so thankful for that.
He is telling me to quit the crying and get on with it because I have a family to take care of and a business to run. There would be a sick joke in there somewhere because that is just who he was.
The most wonderful thing about our family is that we always tell each other we love each other. Parents, children, Sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and even very close friends, we tell them that we love them at the end of every conversation. Our last words will always be words of love. This is part of the amazing legacy that Daddy left behind, this is part of his an incredible life.
I will love and miss you forever, Carole

We had the pleasure of spending time with Mr. Arp while vacationing with Sandy and Joe a couple of times. I remember him as a true gentleman and a extremely loving father and husband. Nobody was a stranger. We wish his family and those close to him comfort in the wonderful memories he has given.

Where do I begin. Gene was such an extraordinary man that can't be expressed with just a few words. Jackie I am so sorry for the loss of your soul mate. I wish I could be there to add just a little comfort during this time but, for now all I can say is I love you and I'm deeply sorry.
To the rest of the extended Arp family, my deepest sympathies. I feel that, not only did I lose a friend and mentor, but someone I would of been proud of to call my father, so I can only imagine how each one of you are feeling.
I'm a better person for being a small part of Gene's life. The only regret I have is that I never got to say "Thank You" for everything he did!

Eugene's (My Brother) LOVE will be forever within me.
His LOVE will always keep me going until we are together again.
His LEGACY will always be shining within my mind.
His HUMOR will always keep me laughing and will keep me going until I meet with him again.
He will ALWAYS WALK BESIDE ME forever.
Eugene has always been there when I NEEDED him throughout my life.
For 67 years Eugene never let me down as a MENTOR, FRIEND, LISTENER and BROTHER.
I have been ONE of the RICHEST SISTERS to have shared my life with such a SPECIAL BROTHER, EUGENE.
Eugene's LOVE FOR LIFE will always be in my MEMORIES TO NEVER BE FORGOTTEN.
What you see is what you get from him.
He worried about everyone.
HIS LIFE WILL SHINE WITHIN MY HEART FOREVER.
He helped everyone he could, he did whatever he could.
He was with me when I was down, sick, unhappy, not motivated.
MEMORIES will always come up for me TO CHERISH and TO LOVE HIM MORE AND MORE EACH DAY.
Eugene LOVED his FAMILY, LOVED LIFE TO THE FULLEST and LOVED HIS FRIENDS.
He wanted to PLEASE everyone to see them happy.
He has always been a GIVER not a TAKER.
My LOVE for Eugene CAN NEVER BE TAKEN FROM ME.
I have had a WONDERFUL 67 years with MY BROTHER that has BLESSED ME ALL OF MY LIFE AND WILL ALWAYS CONTINUE TO BLESS ME.
Eugene LIVED LIFE HIS WAY.
I know he is REJOICING now.
He is FREE from sickness.
Eugene is looking down saying
"DON'T WORRY - BE HAPPY"
"I LOVE YOU ALL".
"I LOVE YOU TOO MY BROTHER".
"I AM MISSING YOU SO MUCH".
"UNTIL WE MEET AGAIN".
"HUGS AND KISSES"

I did not know Gene. But through my friend Steve Nesbit I learned that he was a great man with many accomplishments. Having recently lost my Step Father many memories have again been replayed after hearing about Mr. Arp.
They say, "Time heals all wounds." Well i dont believe that. But i do believe through Prayer and family we find a way to get up each day and honor our lost family and friends by doing exactly what they would expect of us.
The Arps, extended family, and friends will be in my prayers.

You did not fly when you traveled but you are flying now. You rode the train and my grandfather may have driven one of the trains you were on when you were young. My friendship with Glen Wayne gave me another "brother" and thereby another uncle in you. I prayed for you while you were on earth...I will continue to pray for your family. Theresa Einecke

Our Deepest, Heartfelt Sympathy goes out to you today. For 36 years, Gene has been a friend, a mentor, and boss. Gene never met a stranger and never had an enemy. He got along so well with everyone he talked to and all those that worked with him. Gene set an example for all to follow, always upbeat and positive, you never saw him without a smile on his face. He never seemed to have a bad day or at least you would never know it. I am going to miss him stopping by my office every morning to say hello and I know everyone at Indeco feels the same way. I will really miss him personally. His warmth and generosity will be greatly missed by everyone whose life he touched. I know that there are no words that can stop the hurt that you are all feeling. We must put this in God's hands and know that he has a plan for each and every one of us. May God bless you and your family and bring you peace and comfort at this time. I am so, so sad he is gone. Blessings to you!

Uncle Eugene, always the life of the party, gave his family (tree) enough good memories to talk about for the remainder of their lives. After all, how many dads (uncles) would take a school bus, paint it in super bright colors and use it for family outings on the beach?
