I met Gene 7 years ago when I became a Resident member of The New York Athletic Club and every time i saw Gene he had a smile and a warm greeting for me! Gene was a kind, respectful and smart man, who I got to know when he was a member of the Board of our coop. I regret that we did not know each other for a much longer time.

I had the pleasure of being in Gene's company with my brother, Jack Grant. He was kind, friendly, and dynamic. He supported our family in a time of grief, and we have always been grateful to him. He has been a mentor, confidante, and dear friend to Jack. I have heard countless wonderful and touching stories of their friendship. My heartfelt sympathy and those of my family go out to his family.

I had the great pleasure of knowing Gene Bay at the NYAC over more than 30 years. Gene always had a friendly greeting, a smile and warm handshake for one and all. He was immensely proud of his family, a great athlete and a true blue Giants fan. Gene was a true gentleman in the best sense of the word. I and many others will miss him greatly.

A wonderful human being! Every inch a gentleman! A man of the highest integrity! I am grateful that he honored me with his friendship, and, going forward, will treasure the memories that I have of the many fun times I had with him.
