Not sure what to say?

Knew him at Boulder Athletic Club. Great guy. RIP Gene.

I have lived in Boulder my entire life. I first crossed path with Jean, literally, one day when I was walking home from Boulder high school and Jean was headed up to the old gym at the university to work out. Over the years Gene got to be a friend, someone I deeply valued. I was doing a lot of work related travel in 1973 and missed the acknowledgment of Jeanne´s death. I feel an empty place in my world with Gene´s absence.

I am traveling the world with my wife and daughter. Recently a memory of Gene popped in my head and I wondered how he was. My search brought me here. I met Gene many years ago at a gym in Boulder. We would casually chat whenever We bumped into one another at the gym or Trident Cafe where he took his espresso, and as I remember would enjoy a cigar. I went through a rough patch once with my vehicle payments and Gene helped me with a personal loan. I have never forgot that! I can't recall if I...

Gene was a wonderful person who always shared an opinion at the coffee tables at the Trident. Great Guy! Pat Reilly

A true gentleman in every sense of the word. Will miss him! Always caught him in deep thought in the morning at the Trident. I now live in Florida but will always cherish our conversations at the Trident. Rest in peace fellow Veteran!

Gene Always brought intelligent debates that would make you think about your beliefs and questions you were presenting. Even if you didn't agree or if it got a little heated, all would be cooled from a good workout. He was such an inspiration. I met Gene in 1989 and we still use his quotes.

I've been gone from Boulder for 25 years; you've stayed in my heart and memories all this time. I remember the workouts at the Pulse gym in downtown Boulder, and me walking near your home once or twice and talking to you as we met. I remember how truly unique you were and sharp, and am very proud to call you a friend. I never knew your Freedom Fighters background, nor ever saw you with hair on your head, but the photo they put up here of you helps to complete the picture. An honor. I hope in...

Gene on love: If you cannot stop thinking of this person, crave them and feel as if your life cannot go on without them. Then and only then should you get married.

Although I never knew Gene personally, I always found him very intriguing. My family moved to Boulder in 1961 when I was starting Junior High at Baseline. My sister Kate was an art student at CU and Gene would model in life drawing class. He reminded Kate of our older brother, Rex, who was also a body builder and WW11 veteran. I would see Gene walking around Boulder and since I loved sports my goal was to build up my body like Gene's. Well, that never happened. I remember I was working...
