Gene was a true gentlemen, he always had time to chat with all of his people, from all of the ranks at Food Enterprises, whether you were an exec. or the "Mail Room" he always had time for you, a great gentleman, I had the pleasure to work with him for thirty years at F.E. before it came Merkert Enterprises. May God keep him in a safe place. He was a special person who went out of his way to introduce himself to anyone that worked at Merkert which I made a big impression on me when I worked there. Nice man.

If it weren't for Mr. Merkert, I would never of had a job at "Merkert Enterprises" and for that, I thank him! May he rest in peace and may he watch over his wife and son.
