Not sure what to say?

Dr. Petersen is often in my conversation. He made a lasting impact on my life.

I remember Gene from reunions I attended with my dad, Louie Hoger. The members all held him in such high regard. A great spiritual witness.

Time does not dim in the least the memory of my dearest professor, Dr. Eugene J. Petersen. I think of him and speak of him often. The greatest compliment I ever received as a preacher was when a fellow missionary said, "You remind me of a professor I had at San Francisco Seminary." That professor was Dr. Petersen under whom I had studied at Detroit Baptist Seminary.

Dr. Petersen was my most beloved professor at Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. When I was a missionary in Italy, Eugene Petersen's letters of encouragement often kept me going in spite of very difficult circumstances. When I thought of what he endured in WW II in France, I thought of how little I had to face. Yet Eugene also knew, as I do, that the spiritual battle in this life is the most formidable. Eugene's ministry was always encouraging and uplifting. I loved him and I love him...

Dr. Petersen was my most beloved professor and friend. He had a great influence on my spiritual life. I look forward to seeing him in heaven. Tom Jones

I

Dr. Petersen was such an inspiration to me at DBTS. He was always so encouraging and a pastor's pastor. We continued to talk over the years and his inspiration for serving the Lord continued. I just found out today that He had gone to be with the Lord. What an example of biblical manhood. This man was truly loved by my family and so instrumental in my life as a man.
Praying for wife and family.

Dr. Petersen was my history professor at the San Francisco Baptist Theological Seminary in 1970. Of all of the professors and teachers I had throughout my lifetime, he was unique and very much appreciated. He was humble and did not seek his own advantage or honor. Yet, he provided an inspiring living illustration of Christ, Who did not seek His own glory while serving His Father. Dr. Petersen was always encouraging, optimist about the Lord providing and honoring faithful service. We talked...

I remember Dr. Petersen as a passionate preacher and lover of the souls of men. He was pastor of my church in Gridley, CA during a formative time in my life. I praise our God for his and his precious wife's faithfulness for so many years!
