Eugene Witten Obituary

WITTEN, EUGENE T. "GENE," 87, of Louisville, passed away Thursday, November 10, 2011 at The V.A. Medical Center.

Born in Grayson County, KY, he was a retired manufacturers' representative for Deaton-Kennedy Company where he worked for over 35 years. He was with the Medical Corps in the Army during World War II. He was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, a former member of Buechel Masonic Lodge, The Scottish Rite, and the Order of Eastern Star #339 Buechel. He was a Duke of Paducah and a Kentucky Colonel.

He was preceded in death by his brothers, Raymond Hershel and Frank Witten; and sisters, Rowena Gatheridge and Bea Basham.

He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Mary McAfee Witten; children, Marigene Witten, Vernon T. Witten, and Lou Ann Hippensteel (Curt); brother, Marshall Witten; sister, Laura Amos; and eight grandchildren, Alice, John, Katie, Ian, Ray, Lela, Kathleen, and Mary.

Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday, November 12, 2011 at Owen Funeral Home-Jeffersontown, 9318 Taylorsville Road. Burial will be at Resthaven Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Mary, Marigene, Tim and Lu Ann; I am sad to hear that Mr. Witten passed. I have fond memories of fun times at your home and remembering what a fine, caring fellow Gene was, with a great sense of humor. I hope you too have many fond memories to help you cope and keep his spirit alive. GOD BLESS!
