Evelyn KELLER Obituary

KELLER, Evelyn (Lynn) Baker
8/09/1925 - 6/03/2012
Evelyn ('Lynn') R. Baker Keller, beloved wife of Robert O. Keller, mother of four loving children, (Cristianne Keller Specht, Robert B. Keller (deceased), William R. Keller, Suzanne Keller) and grandmother of two adoring grandchildren, (Tyler Stopa and Camryn Alexandra Keller), passed away on June 3, 2012 in Fresno, CA. Other relatives include son-in-law Robert Specht, daughter-in-law Kathy Eidem Keller, and granddaughter-in-law Arina Stopa, step-brother Dr. William Evans, sister-in-law Margaret Keller Worthen, cousin Eleanor Edsall, and 10 nieces and nephews.

Lynn was a truly accomplished individual and incredibly devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to many people. Those who knew and loved her were good friends living in California communities of Fish Camp, Wawona, Yosemite, Merced, Mariposa, Fresno, Oakhurst, Madera, Berkeley, San Francisco, San Anselmo, San Rafael, Humboldt County, and the Sacramento area.

Lynn was born August 9, 1925 in the Central Valley of California (Turlock, CA). Her parents at the time lived in Livingston, CA. During her school years, she lived with her mother in Berkeley and attended Cragmont Elementary and Berkeley High. She also lived briefly at times with her father in Merced.

Lynn was a History major at the University of Oregon at Eugene during World War II and was introduced to Robert O. Keller, her husband of 64 years, by mutual friends in Berkeley, CA during a post New Year's Eve party in 1948. They became engaged in April and were married later in September at the Chapel in Yosemite Valley. They lived in the Bay Area until 1967 when Mr. Keller accepted a position as Executive Assistant to the Director of the State of California Employment Development Department in Sacramento. Beginning in 1970, Mr. Keller worked with the California State Senate as Chief Consultant for the Senate Rules Committee, Insurance and Financial Institution Committee, and Industrial Relations Committee during the Reagan Administration.

During the 1960's and 1970's the Kellers (Robert and Lynn) owned and operated the Silvertip Lodge in Fish Camp until 1978; it was destroyed by fire in 1981. She later worked in the Tenaya Lodge Gift Shop in Fish Camp for 19 years.

Lynn leaves a legacy of being involved in community affairs and land development in Fish Camp, CA. Her contributions and accomplishments towards establishing a vibrant and economically sustainable Fish Camp community are notable.

She was affiliated with and a member of the national Delta Delta Delta Sorority, the Tri-Delt House Corporation at U.C. Davis, also she was a Founding Advisor to the Delta Delta Delta Sorority at U. C. Merced and a member of the Panhellenic Alumni group in Marin County and Sacramento County. She was a U.C. Merced Foundation Ambassador from 1985 to 2012. She was also a member of the Rio Americano Bridge Club in Sacramento and a member of the St. Francis Yacht Club in San Francisco.

Besides being a wonderful homemaker, Lynn was known for her vivaciously beautiful smile, her quick wit and sense of humor, helpful and outgoing nature. She will be truly missed by all who knew her.
