Fara "Maga" Jasmin Samson
December 10, 1960 - April 23, 2025
Lynn - Fara "Maga" Jasmin Samson, of Lynn, passed away on April 23, 2025, at the age of 64. Born and raised in Haiti, Maga spent her early life in the cities of Acul-du-Nord, Cap-Haitien, and Port-au-Prince. She graduated from high school in 1980 and continued her education in the capital, earning a diploma as a billing secretary from Eftec in 1982 and completing law school in 1986. In 1988, she emigrated to the United States, where she worked tirelessly to build a life filled with perseverance and purpose. She became a certified law secretary in 1994 and a licensed practical nurse in 2008. Maga was a devout churchgoer who actively participated in social and cultural events within her community. She had a deep love for cooking Haitian cuisine and cherished spending time with her family and friends. Known for her peacemaking spirit, she always sought to reunite those in conflict, believing strongly in peace, unity, and the value of education. A true role model, she inspired both family and friends with her strength, wisdom, and compassion. She was the beloved wife of Alerth Samson for 33 years. Their marriage was a testament to enduring love, grounded in simplicity, optimism, and mutual respect. Alerth admired Maga's honesty, sense of humor, and her unwavering life philosophy. As she often said in her native language, "1er so pa so"-"The first fall is not really a fall, but a lesson." Maga was the devoted mother of Guychard Samson and Sasha Samson, and a nurturing presence to her many nieces and nephews, whom she loved as her own. She is lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Avani Fara Samson and Manou Jameson Young, though she was unable to spend time with them due to a long illness. She was predeceased by her parents, Nina Florival Jasmin and Jacquees Jasmin. She is survived by her siblings Danielle Jasmin Mathieu, Joseph Jasmin, Alix Jasmin, Aniane Jasmin Parisien, Benick Jasmin, Fresnel Innocent, Marie Yolene Innocent, Island Innocent, Berlique Innocent, Fara Pierre, and Marlie Pierre. She is also remembered fondly by her extended family from the Compere, Florival, Ambroise, Joseph, Charles, Devil, Pierre-Antoine, Pierrot, Bobo and Lapommeray families.
Maga was truly the light of our lives, and though she is no longer with us, her legacy of love, unity, and strength continues to guide us.
