Not sure what to say?

Floyd Mead was my band director and trumpet teacher in grade school and junior high in the 1950´s. He was a HUGH positive influence in my life.

I was looking through old albums and came across one and it had a note inside. It's a recording of the 1960-61 varsity band. It's type written and signed by Floyd C Mead. I think this would be him. Would anyone in the family be interested in this album and note

Mr. Mead gave me a life long love of music, despite my utter lack of talent ! Now that's a teacher !

In junior high?, our band director, Floyd Mead, chartered a bus and took the band to Detroit to see Ben-Hur on
the big screen. It was amazing to see; I had never been to Detroit or to a big time theatre. Back home, Mr. Mead
brought out the sheet music to the movie, and we learned it. I remember how exciting it was to play such tremendous music.

There are few people I have met that have provided the drive, mentorship, and team building I experienced throughout Junior High under Floyd Meads leadership. At that age, those skills remain lifelong as does my memory of him. He'll be missed

Hi all. Thanks so much for all of your notes. This is Margaret Mead Britain (MHS class of 1969). I'm living in Fayetteville, AR these days with my partner and our 16 year old daughter. It's been great to hear from so many people. And great to remember the plant club, David! Dad would have been happy to know that so many people have been back in touch. We'll all miss him a lot. He was one cool guy.

This is Tom Mead (MHS Class of '65 and currently a librarian at Dartmouth College in New Hampshire...), wanting to say THANKS to all of you. The family will be all together for Christmas. We'll have a little service and spend time remembering...

I grew up in the same neighborhood as Mr. Mead and his family and have fond memories of the "plant club" that his daughter Margaret and I were the sole members of. Although I never had Mr. Mead as an instructor I can certainly remember the profound influence he had on Central Intermediate's music activities. Best wishes to the family.

David Cummings

Please accept my deepest sympathies. Sincerely,

Dear Dolores, Margaret, Lew and Tom,

We were so sorry to hear about Floyd's death. Please know we have been keeping you in our prayers.

We have so many good memories of Floyd and thank God that he was a part of our lives. His contagious optimism will be sorely missed in this world.

We can just imagine the "big band" he's playing with right now, blowing high notes on that trumpet of his, with a Conductor who's putting him through the paces...

You have all our...
