Floyd E. Newsum, Jr.

I took an art appreciation course from Dr. Newsum during my studies at the University of Houston-Downtown. He was one of my all time favorite teachers. Living in third ward, I would run into him ever so often. He always remembered my name and knew the exact semester when I was in his class. What am amazing experience. I was blessed to have Mr. Newsum as my Art Professor at UH back in the mid 1980s. I have so many great memories of him. What I admired most about Mr. Newsum was his passion for teaching and his caring heart. He loved art and was excited to share everything he knew with his students.
