Francis D. Miller, 88, of North Platte, passed away on June 1, 2022, at her son's home, surrounded by her loving family. Have you met someone, and the moment you met them, you knew you were loved? Then you either met Jesus or my mom, Francis Deloris "Dee" Milleror hopefully both. Born in quaint Farnam, on Oct. 7, 1933, to the Clement Clan, she would always say she "was the youngest of five sisters." Never could really tell if she was bragging or complaining. She also had two brothers, two extraordinary brothers, my Uncle Emerald and Uncle Wayne, heroes both. It was a big loud, loving family. Basically, it was Walton's Mountain in Nebraska. Francis married her childhood sweetheart, Richard L. Miller, from Maxwell, on Dec. 23, 1953. I must admit, Dad looked pretty good in his Navy blues. With the Korean War going on, this young wife and new mother of my brother Terry was transplanted from the Sandhills to San Diego. Family roots couldn't quite stretch that far, so with Dad being deployed, she was alone in a big world, the little engine that could. She was proud to speak of the 29 years working at North Western Bell Telephone Company. Her skills and commitment made her stand out. Her friends were many and her love for them was true. She loved Jesus and I know Jesus loved her. She spent several years being part of Valley Christian Church and these last few years at First United Methodist. Though her voice was a little creaky with age, she still sang hymns and songs of praise with joyous zeal. Francis and Richard had various loves including antiques, which led them to create the Antique Mini-Mall here in North Platte. Even after Richard passed away, Francis kept involved in various antique ventures through the years. This kept her busy as well as being in a position to meet and greet, something she could do with such ease. She loved people and people loved her. A perfect fit! She raised two good sons; at least that's what I am saying since I'm one of them. My brother was a career Air Force veteran, retiring as a Senior Master Sergeant with numerous commendations. He unfortunately died in a motor vehicle accident in 2011. He was a great son, an even better brother. The family Francis created, and informally adopted, was large and sculpted by her love and actions. They know who they are, and they know just how blessed we all were to be touched by her presence. And today, June 1, 2022, we say goodbye to an angel while heaven says hello. And what a loud and happy hello it must be. For being the last surviving member of her family, mom is being hugged and kissed by, in no particular order: the love of her life, Dick Miller; coolest son ever, Terry; grandma and grandad C; Ora, Emerald, Onie, Eva, Clara, Dorothy and Wayne, Aunt Vay, Uncle Don and enough other family and friends that I'm sure it will wrap around heavens version of a block. And the rest of us are here, missing her. For now, just think about her if you were lucky enough to have known her, smile, then tell a stranger hello! Online condolences may be shared at carpentermemorial.com. A celebration of Dee's life will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 18, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel with her son Emerald officiating. Service will be livestreamed via the Carpenter Memorial Facebook page for those unable to attend. Inurnment will be at 10 a.m. Monday, June 20, at Fort McPherson National Cemetery, near Maxwell. The memorial book will be available for those who wish to sign from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday, June 17, at Carpenter Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Not sure what to say?

This has been tough. Everytime I come here to write something my tears blind me. I will forever love and miss you Mom. I met Dee about 40 years ago. We became friends instantly. (Of course everyone was instant friends with her) Soon we started hanging out and having fun together. If you know her, she would make anything fun. I adopted her as my Mom and she would call me her daughter. She took me on my very first trip garage saleing. Donna, Lisa, Onie, Peggy & I would be included on these...

Warm Embrace Arrangement

Grammy wore many hats and was many things to many people. For me, she was always Grammy. Every visit home started with the squeak of her screen door and her ever cheerful voice almost singing "oh goodie goodie goodie" doing her little happy dance waiting on that first hug. All her hugs were full of warmth and overflowing with love, but that first hug it was different. It was as if Grammy was holding her breath from the last hug till this one. They lasted just a little longer and were just...

My sympathy to all the family.

Thoughts & Prayers to all who were privileged to know Dee. Her smile was a ray of 'sunshine'. Her favorite song was 'You Are My Sunshine'! I will carry her memory for the rest of my life.

Grammy was big on making your bed every day when you got up in the morning. We didn´t have too many chores at her house, but that was the one she wouldn´t let slide. It stuck with me, and every day, without fail, I made my bed in the morning. Except on the morning after she passed. I just couldn´t find it in me to tuck the sheets and fluff the pillows. I planned to spend most of that day in bed anyway. Then I thought of how she wouldn´t want that. Grammy is a person to be celebrated,...

Aunt Dee your truly a beautiful soul! Heaven definitely got a precious angel, I remember summers with you and Grandma Hamel Grammy and sometimes Grandma Clement, you ladies would get your coolotts on, your jewelry & lip sticks and we would hit the town for a day of garage sales. Me being young didn't matter I was with the coolest ladies I knew the Wild bunch. I was so very lucky to enjoy time at your house in the summers , and the opportunity to call you my family! Please hug my mom for me...

I am saddened by the news of you being gone. I had so many fond memories as a kid. I always loved getting to come over and see the artifacts. Your warm smile will be forever in my heart! Until we meet again.

I am so very sorry for your loss. I am honored to have met this beautiful lady. I enjoyed the tribute to Dee
