Frank N. Harper, Sr., passed away on August 21, 2025, at North Oaks Hospital, surrounded by family. Born in Hammond on November 15, 1946, to the late Leonard Ray Harper, Sr. and Louisa Bailey Harper, Frank grew up with strong family values and a love for simple joys.
Frank was a man who never met a stranger. Whether it was sharing a story, lending a helping hand, or offering a quick laugh, he had a way of making people feel welcome. He loved spending time outdoors and was happiest when he was hunting or enjoying the peace and beauty of nature. His greatest pride, however, was his family, and he found his most cherished moments in time spent with them—whether that was cheering on his grandchildren, sitting around the table swapping stories, or simply enjoying the comfort of being together.
He is survived by his son, Frank N. Harper, Jr. and wife, Brittany; daughter, Vanessa Mitchell and husband, Christopher; brothers, Wesley “Dub” Harper, Robert "Bobby" Harper, and Paul "PT" Harper; sister, Mary Harper; grandchildren, Jaxon, Jakob, Giselle, C’Mya, CJ, and Jaylen; and great-granddaughter, Kay’lhani.
Frank is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Sheryl Harper; brothers, Leonard Ray Harper, Jr. and John Ellis Harper; and sisters, Margaret "Faye" H. Martin, Betty H. Kovach, Regina Harper, and Linda H. Starkey.
Visitation will be held at Harry McKneely & Son Funeral Home, 2000 North Morrison Boulevard, Hammond, on Tuesday, August 26, 2025, beginning at 9:00 a.m., until the funeral service at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow at Johnson Cemetery.
Frank will be remembered for his laughter, his generosity, and the love he poured into those around him. His legacy lives on through his children, grandchildren, and all who were blessed to know him.
