William "Bill"Fairport: Bill passed away at home on December 26, 2016, at the age of 91. He had just celebrated Christmas Eve surrounded by his children, grandchildren, and wife. Bill was a kind, soft-spoken, and very intelligent man with a dry sense of humor. He will be missed by all who had the...

Not sure what to say?

So sorry to hear about "Doc".
I had him for the two years at MCCC, graduated in 1983. Smartest man I ever met and a huge inspiration. I was able to go on to receive a BSME, successfully pass the P.E. exam and for the last 17 years have been self employed as a forensic engineer, he was definitely a part of my success.
I remember at the graduation ceremony the MET students were getting a bit loud, he looked back at us with that look of "you better conduct yourselves more appropriately",...

Doc and Don Day ...summer 1980

To the Kinsman family: deepest condolences to you. Dr. Kinsman was a fine gentleman. I had the pleasure of being one of his students in the MET graduating class of 1980. That poor man must have lay awake at night trying to figure out a way to get thru to me. He didn't fail me, I just didn't study enough. Despite my lack of natural ability, Doc treated me with respect and never gave up on me. For that I am eternally grateful. I will never forget him. How lucky you all were to have him...

My sincere condolences to the family.
Dr. Kinsman was one of those rare professors that really 'made a difference' with his students on many different levels. After almost 50 years since I sat in one of his mechanical engineering classes, I can still remember being impressed with his gift reaching young minds.
Happy Trails Doc-

Tom Ewart; class of 70

Rob-We are so sorry to hear about your dad but glad that you were with him. Love, Steve & Mary Ann

Our family will forever remember the summer days and nights spent at the lake with the Kinsman clan. Bill was never happier than with his grandchildren and others were there to help and entertain him. Thank you all for these amazing memories.

Betty and Bill were the very first people Malcolm and I had to dinner when we were newlyweds in Rochester. Thankfully they lent us chairs for the dining room or we would have been eating off our laps on the sofa. We made WAY too much food. Especially potatoes. Of course, after dinner, we played Pirate's Bridge.

What a phenomenal man! So sorry for your loss.

So many happy memories of Bill! From
Pleasant Way, to the sing-around Cabin parties (and moving the outhouse!), to the wonderful house in the woods and all the White Elephant parties, to the home on the Erie Canal and the pot luck dinners. Witty, welcoming, warm William!
