I was viewing the obituary of a friend of mine from Baton Rouge and
was Surprised and Saddened to see the listing for Frank Pasqua. I haven't seen or talked to him for
45 or 50 years but remember him very fondly. I worked as a movie
projectionist 1952-1954 at the old
theater across from the GHS while I
was in High School there. I was also known as "Big Mo".

I just wanted to sign this guestbook to say that the very first phone number I learned how to dial was the Pasqua Theatre! I know I am like so many other native Gonzales citizens that dialed that number faithfully every week (with the phone that you had to dial the numbers!) to hear Mr Frank's recording of what movie would be played. I also remember every weekend in that theatre with Mr. Frank and his flashlight telling you to be quiet if you got out of hand. My grandmothers house was within walking distance of the Pasqua theatre so we could walk across the New River bridge with our cousins to get to the theatre. We were so fortunate to be able to grow up in a small town in those days. Mr. Frank and the Pasqua Theatre will always be some of my fondest memories of growing up a small-town Gonzales girl. May God Bless the Pasqua family during this time of loss.

To Mark, Marcia, and Sam and you Mrs. Joyce our deepest sympathy in your loss. Amy and I will keep him and your family in our prayers.

Joyce and family,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and Frank. Over the years, I frequently recalled good lessons learned from the way Frank lived his life when I was growing up in and around Gonzales. He was a very good friend and employer. He even took the time to take me fishing many times. And Joyce, thanks for helping Frank be that person; and I am very grateful that your parents were instrumental in making sure my family had a ride to St. Theresa every Sunday. Though not still here on earth, Frank lives on.

Randy and I are remembering your family during this time of grief. I was recently able to get to know Marcia as she visited with us when going to her class reunion. She carries the class that the Pasqua family is known for. Grace, gentleness and true concern for others is what is outstanding with your family. And by the way, Mrs. Pasqua, thanks for a great educational experience. May God bless you all during this time.

After watching the news last night, my husband, Sam, asked, "When was the last time you felt life was simple". I couldn't come up with an answer for him, but right before I went to sleep, I thought.....life was simple when I rode my bike to the Pasqua Theater. I didn't fear the ride. I didn't lock my bike. My parents knew Mr. Frank was there with his flashlight. I especially remember watching Blue Hawaii and staying for more than one showing.
This morning I read that Mr. Frank had left us. To the Pasqua family, please know that your light has shone on generations and continues to remind us of a simpler time. For that we thank you.

Please accept my sincere condolences at the loss of Mr. Frank. I too have the pleasure of having the good memories of growing up in Gonzales and the Pasque Theater from my youth. From my first introduction of Elvis to the hero's of my youth of John Wayne, Paul Newman and Robert Redford, the Pasque Theater always comes to mind. I met Mr. Frank through my grandfather, Floyd Melancon and knew I had to be on my best behavior while at the theater if I wanted to come back the next week. Again, my sincere condolences for your loss.

Ms. Pasqua,
It is with great regret that we have lost one of the nicest gentleman in the Parish of Ascension. I continue to read the Advocate to keep me updated with the local news. The obituary is a site that I visit and sometimes I'm startled by the names. This is one of those occasions. Mr. Frank will be sadly missed and I have been blessed with knowing both of you. Joyce Marie Landry Pasqua:
I join you in deep sorrow over our mutual loss. My recollections of both you and Frankie, despite my long absence from Gonzales, are as vivid today as the day each event occurred. For example, I recall that Norris Rushing and I, trumpeters like Frankie, each agreed that Frankie was the "best". I remember your own interest in local "sandlot" (meaning to us, "unsupervised") baseball games, and your challenging intellect throughout our conjoined Gonzales school curriculum. (I believe, but do not know, that at some point you dropped one of your first names, but to me you will always be "Joyce Marie".) Frankie's father, Sam, was one of my first employers who hired me as an "usher" and "popcorn" maker at both what was then known as the "Pasqua" and "Gonzales" Theatres. Our generation benefited from being too young to serve in WWII, but Korea and other events caught up with some of us, like me and other of our classmates. My mother, Celeste, adored your broher-in-law, Charlie, when he was mayor - that was all she talked about when she visited us in New York City many, many years ago. Your good friends, Harold and Lorraine Gautreau have kept me up-to-date in a general way on the sidelines with you and Frankie and some mutual friends, which I greatly appreciate. I recall very well our last meeting of the Reunion of the Gonzales High Graduation Class of 1947, and I am looking forward to seeing you in 2007, for the "sixthieth". Love to you, your family, and our mutual friends. Kern K. Kernan

Ms Joyce and the Pasqua family,
Words are insufficient to express my love, respect, and gratitude for all that Mr. Frankie represents. The Pasqua Theater has been a part of my life since I was six years old and Mr. Frankie was my first Theater etiquette teacher. Through his wonderful generosity and support of Ascension Community Theatre I, and many others, have a venue for creative expression that feeds not just my soul but the creative soul of Ascension Parish.
Know that I hold you and your family in my heart and that my love and prayers are with you.

My dear Ms. Joyce & All,
Please accept our sincere condolences at the loss of Mr. Frank. Although we didn't know him extremely well, what we did know of him was "all good." He was a community-minded, faithfilled man, whose role as husband, father, grandfather, uncle, and friend will be sorely missed. May God bless you and your family, and may Mr. Frank rest in the peace of Christ.
Our love and sympathy,
Mayor Johnny Berthelot

To the Entire Pasqua Family -I on behalf of all the citizens of Gonzales convey our deepest sympathy upon the death of Mr. Frank. So many of us grew up with the Pasquas' by going to the show at the Pasqua Theater and having that flashlight put on us. It truly taught us lifelong lessons to be quiet when told. Mr. Frank was truly an ambassador for Gonzales and a person the city will truly miss. God Bless all of you and rest assured our prayers are with you.

Mrs. Joyce, Mark, Marcia, and Sam and the family,
My very first job was working for Mr. Frank at the theatre, a memory that I still cherish. He was a wonderful community and family oriented person, one that helped to make Gonzales the special place that it is.
My thoughts and prayers go out to all of you. Please know that a little piece of Mr. Frank always lives on in me and the same community/family values that I pass on to my children.
