FRANK ROSENGARTEN

I knew Frank nearly my whole life--first as a family friend and then as a comrade in work for peace and social justice. One of my father's closest and most long-term friends, I had the opportunity to see and appreciate many aspects of him. He was an incredible man who will be sorely missed. He leaves the rest of us to carry on the work which was so central to his life.

Frank never stopped wanting to improve his technology skills. As his computer guru, I've helped Frank construct 3 books. He was eager to learn and patient. To me, he was always kind and enlightening; I learned more about Proust, C. L. R. James, and Gramsci from Frank than I ever could on my own. I feel privileged to have spent time with both he and his late wife Lucy over the last 13 years. Rest in peace, old friend.

He took time from his work to help us launch the left dialogue project CrossRoads in the 90s. We learned from him and I hope to continue to do so. I miss him.

I feel honored to have met unforgettable Frank. I wish to share the sorrow for the loss of this wonderful person along with his loved ones and family .

I had the honour of meeting Frank when I invited him to a C.L.R. James conference in Ottawa in 2009. He was a scholar and a gentleman, a kind soul in a world of sectarian discord. He will be missed.

Frank was an exemplary intellectual and person. He was an intellectually rigorous and critical scholar, yet extremely kind, modest, and engaging. His presence, intellect, and warmth will be deeply missed.

Adios, Frank. You are a truly wonderful example of a good-hearted leftist, the kind who knows how to reach across borders.

Frank was one of nature's gentlemen, with a warmth and generosity that helped to make the world a better place.
