My father was also a member and supporter of the Kishwaukee St. Baptist Church for many years. He worked for a few years at Rockford Screw Products at Harrison and Kishwaukee streets. Then he worked for EBY Housemovers. Later he was an owner/operator of apartments as a manager/maintenance man.
He and his wife took in foster children for the police dept in high risk situations for a couple of years. Their door was as open as their hearts.
