Fred Manget

Manget, Fred, 95, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2021 in St. Louis, Missouri.

Devoted husband for 67 years to Patsy Manget (nee Gulledge). Loving father of Susan Berg, Kathy (Richard) Rothman and Liz (Bob) Barr. Wonderful "Papa" of Shelby (Ted) Neuner, Daniel Rothman, Andrew Berg, Ryan (Carol) Barr and Morgan (Jordan) Hall. Proud Great "Papa" of Kendall Neuner. Dear brother, uncle and friend of many.

Fred grew up in Dallas, TX with his parents and beloved sister Elizabeth. He loved flying and aspired to be a WW2 fighter pilot. At age 17, and with an excess of fighter pilots, the Army Air Corps assigned him to airplane mechanic school in New Mexico, where he worked on the B-29 power generator. After his military training he entered Texas A & M University, where he graduated with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and became an ardent Aggie football fan. During his life he greatly enjoyed making many trips back to A & M with friends for Alumni reunion events and football games.

Most of Fred’s career was with the Trane Company, where he eventually rose to the position of Executive Vice President of Sales. This journey involved moving his family to New Orleans, LA, Devon, PA, and La Crosse, WI. In 1971 Fred and his family moved to York, PA where he was employed by Borg Warner as the Executive Vice President of Sales. He saw every move as an adventure and opportunity to meet new people and explore new places. He cherished the special friendships he made in these cities and maintained those relationships throughout his life. After working for Borg Warner he moved back to Dallas in 1981 and became very involved with his church and the Brotherhood of St. Andrew, holding leadership positions and devoting many hours of service to both. He was a devoted Christian who was very strong in his faith and was passionate about his involvement in these missions. His time spent with his nieces and nephews, their families, and long-time friends in Dallas was a great joy to him and Patsy.

In 2016 he and Patsy moved to St. Louis where he enjoyed being close to his daughter Kathy and her family. He loved spending time with his St. Louis family, especially with his great granddaughter, Kendall. He enjoyed his men’s Bible Study group, who were faithful and supportive friends to the end.

Fred loved life and was always game for just about anything. He loved to travel and visited all of the continents, except Asia and Africa, but they were on his bucket list! He loved dancing with Patsy, golf, tennis, sailing, and most of all, family get togethers. Also beloved were his many dogs, who were wonderful, faithful companions throughout his life.

Fred impacted so many in his long, blessed life. He wanted his passing to be a celebration of his life and was happy to "graduate" into Heaven. He was comforted in knowing he will be with our blessed Lord in Heaven and be reunited with his loved ones.

Services: Funeral service at the SCHRADER Funeral Home & Crematory, 14960 Manchester Rd., at Holloway, Ballwin, Friday October 8, 2021 at 1:00 pm. Interment Bellerive Gardens. In lieu of flowers contributions in his memory may be made to Memory Home Care Solutions at memorycarehs.org or Church of the Resurrection at resurrectionstl.org.
