I just found out about Fred and I wanted to pay my respects. I met him in 1995 and rented from him for over 15 years. He could have sold the victorian I lived in a million times to Mills Peninsula Hospital, who wanted to turn it into a parking lot, but he wanted to preserve San Mateo history, and it remains intact thanks to Fred. I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Fred. He was such a good man and a longtime contestant and several times on a winning team in the Giddings Gup. Fred was truly a gentleman of the game of golf and he will be greatly missed. God Bless, Judy Vossler

I once played golf with Mr. Strebel in a tournament in San Mateo some twenty years ago. He made an enduring impression on me. I remember him as being a classy, good hearted, generous and enjoyable gentleman. I very much appreciated the unsolicited life advice that he gave me after our round over lunch, from which we both got a good chuckle. Rest in Peace Fred. I'm quite sure you made this world a nicer place.

Dear Michele,
Fred and I were friends for many years and enjoyed playing golf as well as gin rummy after our rounds at Crystal Springs. He was very accomplished in both venues.
Lily and I will surely miss him and offer our sincere condolences for your loss.
