I just found out about Fred and I wanted to pay my respects. I met him in 1995 and rented from him for over 15 years. He could have sold the victorian I lived in a million times to Mills Peninsula Hospital, who wanted to turn it into a parking lot, but he wanted to preserve San Mateo history, and it remains intact thanks to Fred. He also stood up to developers in downtown over the movie theatre, and he helped organize events like the wine walk. I remeber Fred pouring the wine himself during the first wine walk and his friend John on the accordian. Downtown won't be the same without Fred. He's an ICON.

I am so sorry to hear about the passing of Fred. He was such a good man and a longtime contestant and several times on a winning team in the Giddings Gup. Fred was truly a gentleman of the game of golf and he will be greatly missed. God Bless, Judy Vossler

I once played golf with Mr. Strebel in a tournament in San Mateo some twenty years ago. He made an enduring impression on me. I remember him as being a classy, good hearted, generous and enjoyable gentleman. I very much appreciated the unsolicited life advice that he gave me after our round over lunch, from which we both got a good chuckle. Rest in Peace Fred. I'm quite sure you made this world a nicer place.

Dear Michele,
Fred and I were friends for many years and enjoyed playing golf as well as gin rummy after our rounds at Crystal Springs. He was very accomplished in both venues.
Lily and I will surely miss him and offer our sincere condolences for your loss.

Dear Michele, Dick and Betty:
Ed and I are so very very sad to hear of Fred's passing.
Fred always have a bright beaming smile with an upbeat aura.
You could tell Fred loved you Michele so completely.
It was always wonderful to see you two together.
Dick, how ironic when I told you my story of finding my Father you said
"I bet my brother knew him." Sure enough, Fred knew my Dad 15 years before I found him. I was so proud bringing Fred and Michele as my guest to the Gala my Dad put on with Paul Anka.
I got to see Fred a few months ago and introduced him to my sister.
He was so vibrant, delightful and handsome !!!!
Our prayers are with you all.
We are so close. If you need anything we will be here for you.
