Fred "Fritz" Unger has been a dear friend of mine for more than 50 years. We met in Heidelberg Germany where we were serving in the U.S. Army. Fritz was a part of a group we called the Necar river rats, a group he loosely held together to the end. I knew I could expect a call every other week or so and hear a rundown of the groups stories.
