It was a bit of a shock when, as I read this morning's email, I realized that it has been 8 years since Fred's passing. I still vividly remember Fred's progression from student to test stand intern to Boeing employee and, most especially, to Boeing Technical Fellow. He was a joy to work with and a good friend. His memory will be with me forever. I trust that he is keeping all the gears in Heaven in good working order.

Dear Eileen and family. I had known Fred for many years and recently worked with him in efforts to advance the state of fthe art in helicopter transmissions. He was ALWAYS enthusiastic, cordial and forward thinking in my dealings with him. My sincere sympathies on this untimely loss. Barney Berlinger
