Coach George made a lasting impact-anyone who played for him was better for it. I´m especially grateful he chose to coach the girls´ basketball ; I was lucky to be on his very first team. I want to mention Mrs. George, as she gave my mother the confidence to join the women´s 18-hole group at WGCC, and that meant so much to her-and to me.

My late husband (Dan Mettler) held Mr. George in very high regard. His guidance and integrity as a coach provided Dan with skills that led to a lifelong involvement with baseball both playing and coaching our grandson. The memories are many and touch my heart. Please accept my sincere condolences.

I was so sorry to hear of Fred´s passing! He was always a joy to chat with at the Village Coffee shop! You submitted a beautiful tribute to his memory! God bless you all.

Fred was a fellow coach at LUSD. We worked together for decades. He was my friend and menter. Karen and I had many adventures with Fred and Claire and the kids. lots of golf, claming, camping and so much more. Claire and Karen surprised Fred and Jim on Valentines Day with a round of golf at Pebble Beach. We were friends with the George´s for 55 years! Fred was a big supporter of Jim and Lodi High. He was a big part of our life for many years! He will be missed, and remembered fondly

Fred George was a kind encouraging person. I enjoyed him so as Mr George my PE teacher and later in life also when I had the opportunity to see him. He was always interested in what I was doing and treated me as a friend. A fine, fine man. I will never forget his his exhortations as we lined up for PE and his reading of the announcement bulletin "do a job for yourselves, fellas, don't break down". I can hear his distinctive voice perfectly. He was a master of pitching "spinners" when we...

Fred was my high school football and baseball. I learned everything from Fred which allowed me to win many awards in my life. Thanks for being there for me Fred. You will never be forgotten

I am so sorry to hear of Fred's passing. I send hugs and prayers to the George family. It is bittersweet but know Fred is finally home with his beloved Claire. Peter and i enjoyed the friendship of Fred and Claire over the years and have many happy memories of our get together's. I know for certain that Peter will also be playing a round of heavenly golf with Fred and Claire or just BS like they always did about Lodi High days. Fred and Claire were so good to Peter during his days at Lodi...
