Not sure what to say?

Dear Dr. Katz, It is with sincere sadness that Mrs. Rogers and I learned of Professor Katz's passing. It was a pleasure knowing him. The residents of Lake Point Tower will miss you both. I trust you will be happy in your new abode close to your family in Pennsylvania. Please accept our condolences.
Dr. & Mrs. B. H. Gerald Rogers

Prof Katz has left us;
we have lost a dear and a great friend of History, a great friend of Mexico. A loss for all the free people of the world, a loss to the University of Chicago; even a loss for Pancho Villa.
Prof. Joseph Ricardo Danel
San Antonio, Texas

I had the opportunity to meet him once and I told him that I was from the State of Chihuahua and that I admired the work he did on the history my state. I told him that he made Chihuahuenses like me, proud. He told in return that he lived and loved Chihuahua, where he once lived as a young man. He was named honorary citizen of my homestate. He then said that being my fellow Chihuahuense was one of the proudest honors he had in his life. Believe me, I was speechless... My sincere condolences...

Condolences to the Katz family from students and faculty of the Department of History at the Iberoamericana University in Mexico City.

My condolences to Dr. Jana Katz, who was my daughter's pediatrician. Like my in-laws, Prof. Katz and his family were Jewish refugees from Vienna and he managed to build an extraordinary tricultural life of accomplishments. Our thoughts are with his family and he will be remembered on Nov. 20, the bicentennial of the Mexican Revolution, at the Revolución! Concert in Chicago.
