Gail Ginsburg Obituary

Ginsburg, Gail Faye
Age 71

Passed away in Houston, TX on August 7, 2013. She was born on April 24, 1942. Gail lived the first 51 years of her life in Omaha, NE, where Gail and Bob, her husband of 52 years, worked and raised 3 children. As a young child, throughout High School at Omaha Central and well into her adulthood, Gail was active in dance and the community theater.
Always passionate about learning, Gail returned to school as an adult, and received her Bachelors Degree from the College of St. Mary and her M.A. in Counseling from the University of Nebraska at Omaha. Gail and Bob moved to Seattle, WA in 1993 to be near their first grandchildren. Gail worked passionately as a therapist at Residential XII, a women's residential treatment center in Washington, before starting a private practice in the Seattle Metro area where she worked until retirement. One year ago, Gail and Bob moved to Houston, TX to be near even more grand-babies. Gail touched a great many lives as a wife, mother, grandmother, counselor and friend.
Gail was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hy and Miriam Shrier; her loving in-laws who watched her grow up and were a second set of parents to her, Henry and Ethel Ginsburg; and the mother of 3 of her precious grand-babies, Debbie.
As near as she could figure, Gail met her husband Bob during Sunday school at age 6, and they first held hands when they were about 10 1/12 or 11. Actually as Bob tells it, Gail was 11 and he was only 10 1/2.
Gail is survived by her husband, Bob; her sons, Phil, Mike, and Danny; the only daughter she ever had (she refused to call her her daughter-in-law), Joy; her grandchildren, Brandon, Emily, Olivia, Madison, Henry, Bobby, Ethel, and Evan; her loving sisters, Jane and her husband Russ Sawyer, and Julie Shrier; her brother and sister-in-law, Bill and Beth Ginsburg; and many cousins whom she loved deeply.
Gail Ginsburg brought white light into the world, and a great deal of love into the hearts of the people whose lives she touched. She will be greatly missed.
SERVICES will be held August 9 at 11am at Forest Park, The Woodlands, with Rabbi Jonathan Siger officiating, at 18000 I-45 South, The Woodlands, TX 77384. The family will begin Receiving guests at 10am. Donations in lieu of flowers can be sent to a place that helps others that is close to your own heart, or to the following: Residence XII

I was so sad to learn of Gail's passing. I was always impressed by her strengths. She loved her children, grandchildren and spoke often of her son Phil's wife Joy whom she adored. Gail's passing leaves a huge void in so many lives. Gail will be missed by so many. God Bless her family and friends in their time of loss.

Dear Bob, we are very saddened to hear of Gail's passing. Although she is no longer with us here, I know her just enough to know her life is secure in that eternal place we all have in true union with one another. A memory, perhaps. But more a presence she leaves with all her family and friends. Blessings, brother in this time of grief. I know little about this life we experience here together. But one thing is now certain to me: Love does not require a physical presence. It goes on despite our seeming experience of different places and times.

Dear Bob and family
Gail made a life changing difference in our lives that enabled Dave to embrace new friends in ALANON and Krista and I to find hope and love in other 12 step programs. Never would have happened if we had not met the little "spit fire". Dave and I have 2 beautiful grand kids and a relationship with Krista that years ago would have been impossible.......
thanks to your dear wife and our friend, Gail.
She will be truly missed, but her spirit shines on in all the folks she helped save.
I am so sorry for your loss.

Dear Bob, Phil, Mike, Danny and Joy,

My memory of Gail as my neighbor, friend and drama partner in her home on Military Ave with her Mom as our teacher is vivid. She was genuine, fun and kind. How nice to know that through the years, she was surrounded by such love.

I am so very sorry.

Her light shines on in the memories of so many. I only worked with Gail once, 25 years ago, in Torch Song Trilogy. She was an amazing, passionate and truthful performer ..and person. She demanded the best of herself and those around her and we were all better for having shared that time. I have never forgotten her. Our thoughts and prayers to the family.

Bob, and family,
So saddened to read of Gail's passing in the paper this morning. I worked with both Gail and your mother at Richman Gordman many, many years ago.....They were both a delight..I remember what a Nebraska football fan Gail was, and us listening to the Nebraska games while at work on game day..........Sending my sincere sympathy on your great loss.

The world is now a little colder and the light a bit dimmer without her warmth, love and compassion to shine on all. She will forever be with us in our minds and in our hearts. Our deepest sympathy to you Bob, your children and their children and all that were fortunate enough to have shared happy times together with you both.

Dear Bob,

I received an email about Gail's passing from Maury Pepper. I send my deepest sympathy. Its been a long time since I last saw you. I remember the old days at Phil Ringle Drugs, slamming down chocolat phosphates & reading comic books. I talk to Roy and Cookie Katskee quite often, but have been pretty lax keeping up with everyone else. Any way my sincere condolences and take care.

Bob:
I was so surprised when I read of Gail's passing this evening in the Omaha World Herald. I always have had very fond memories of Gail and of you. I was so glad to see both of you at our 50th class reunion. I had no idea of all that Gail was doing in her life. You both were so busy and so giving to many. What a gift and blessing you have been.
If the information was correct--then you are near family and that is so important.
Please accept my sympathy for your loss. I hope she did not have to suffer much at the end of her life.
You take care of yourself and maybe you will come to another(?) reunion in Omaha??
