Garnett gave my mom many happy years especially being able to live near her sister,Doris for a few years. I remember the year we all went up to Whidbey Island for Thanksgiving. We stayed in the basement and Garnett kept turning off all the lights and the heat when no one was down ther and we were always freezing. It snowed on us up there too! The greatest memories with Papa were spent fishing and playing in his garden on Whidbey Island. I remember fishing with Papa and standing on the dock for what felt like hours without a bite. As we were packing up to leave I thought I had a fish and looked at the line and said it was probably just the wind that blew my line.
