Dear Ardith, Kristen and Karen and family. Sorry to learn of Garry's passing. I met Garry at SHS and I met Ardith at Terra Linda. Garry was a inspirational Biology Teacher and he was really into nature. I went w/ Garry on Sea Animal from Portland to Ketchikan which took 4 days in 1974. I was into sailboats while Garry and his family were commercial fisherman in SE Alaska during their summers. Wrestling was also a topic we shared. Garry will definitely be missed but never forgotten. Stens was my wrestling coach in high school and later my teammate when we both wrestled AAU for the Multnomah Club. Although he was the assistant wrestling coach at school, he knew much more than the head coaches and shared his knowledge to help us young guys succeed. He was a very kind and generous man with an outstanding wrestling career of his own. Mr. Stensland was one of my favorite teachers at Sunset High School. I graduated in 1969, but still remember his enthusiasm for science. May his memory be a blessing.

What can I say? Garry Stensland was a GOOD MAN. I am honored to have known him.
