Gary Allen was a wonderful, kind, and inspiring teacher I had the privilege of learning from while at City College in the early 70s. I am sad to hear of his passing. He leaves behind a legacy of free thinking and encouragement to so many Sam Francisco art students. Kay Stamoulis Kartsioukas

Gary Allen was a wonderful Art Teacher. I was only able to take a couple of his classes, but he sure made a big impression on me. So happy to hear that he found the great love of his life and had so many happy years to share. An Emmy winner and cat lover, I'm even more impressed. RIP to my favorite Art Teacher and a wonderful Artist.

Haven't seen or communicated with him since graduation in 55 but he was a hell of a guy and we had a great time in high school I'm sure he will be missed immensely. Robert McDonnell (kansas)

We "got each other" and didn't live for the approval of others; we always had...
