Gary Dowell Obituary
Spring Hill, FL - Gary Jeane Dowell, 82, passed away March 6, 2018 at Oakwood Hospital in Spring Hill, Florida. He was born September 14, 1935 in Mansfield, Ohio. His parents were Jeane and Mildred (VanWormer) Dowell.
He was a 1954 graduate of Port Huron High School. He married Laura Acheson of Port Huron in November of 1954. They had two sons, Jeffrey and Barry. He retired as a Chief Warrant Officer (CWO3) after 24 years of service in the United States Coast Guard. He served in Juneau, Alaska, New Orleans, Lousiana, and Boston, Maine. In retirement, he worked in the Security field for 30 years.
He is survived by his wife, Laura, son, Barry W Dowell, his sister, Beth A Redmond, two grandsons, Jeremy and Joshua Dowell, and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Jay C Dowell, and son, Jeffrey A Dowell. Burial will be held March 16, 2018 at 10 AM at Bushnell National Cemetary, Bushnell, Florida. Memorials may be made to the Cancer Society or Veterans Affairs.
