Not sure what to say?

I was in Mr. Lazenby's first 4th-grade class at Cobbles School, 1967-68, which I think may have been his first year of teaching. To have a male teacher was novel, but to have such a sensitive man providing warm, caring guidance was invaluable to me as a 10-year old. I had a chance to see and thank Gary a few years ago—during his last years at Indian Landing—and it was a joy to see him sending kids off on the bus at the end of the school day. I wasn't sure he remembered me, but I will always...

Gary warmly welcomed our family when our 2 sons, Dave and Ben, started at Indian landing. He was the best principal they ever had. He knew all the children by name, and was so kind to each and every one of them. Our community is losing one of the very finest educators that ever was.

Dear Lazenby Family, We are truly sorry for your loss of Gary. He was ALWAYS very kind to me and my wife and he will be dearly missed. He was an asset to ALL of us.

Dear Lazenby Family,

I am so very sorry to read of Gary's passing.

Have many happy memories of Gary and the Lazenby family from my Grant Avenue days. Please know you are in my thoughts and prayers.

I had the honor of having Mr. Lazenby as my fifth grade teacher at Cobbles 43 years ago. He was the most thoughtful, encouraging, fun teacher I ever had. As he spoke to you he made you feel like you were the only person in the room. I'm so sorry to hear of his passing.

When I think about the community he influenced, the school he managed, the church he supported, businesses he contributed, etc, it reflected his strong moral-fiber and quality of character, he was one-in-a-million, in a class all his own.

Judy, So sorry to hear of your loss. He was a great man, husband, and father

At Cobbles, my children were not in his class, but had great respect and liking for him. Knew him as a colleague and always like to see him even after I moved up to the High School. He was an effective board member at FFCU-made me smile every time I saw his portrait.

Both of my girls, Donna and Anita Black, have fond memories of their school experience at Cobbles when Gary was a teacher. I had the opportunity to work with Gary as his secretary at Indian Landing School. Gary's positive attitude and love of children greatly enhanced the Penfield educational environment. Our love, prayers, and hugs to Judy and Lazenby families.
