Read MoreI just saw a note in Facebook, and then saw this obit. I am really sorry to hear about Gary. We used to play basketball in high school, and reconnected just about a year ago on Facebook. I always thought he was one of the good guys.

Just this evening (8/22) I searched for Gary on Facebook. Every now and again I remember the good friends of my late husband, Tom Loughlin, and wonder how they are doing. So sorry to hear of Gary's passing. We carved a similar path from our days at the Westport News to the Bridgeport Post and on to the Courant. He was a sweet man and a good reporter. May you find comfort in your memories of Gary.

I just got the news on Gary. Can't believe it. Helluva reporter and great guy as you know. I'm sorry. We had many laughs at the Courant. I'm sure he's still trying to get autographs in heaven.
