Sheriff Painter was a great man. I worked with him when I worked at the Courthouse. He was also so polite. My husband and I would see him out and he always gave me a hug and said hello and shake my husband's hand and hold conversation.

When I heard of his passing it one time I wish the clock could turn back I was in a state of denial. My hero could not be dead. I had the utmost respect for him.
