In 1972 while traveling through El Paso. My wife Bonnie became ill. We went to Dr. Solomos who we knew. He sent us to Dr. Schabacker who diagnosed my wife's ruptured spleen in a matter minutes. He got her into the OR at Southwestern General and literally saved her life and made it possible for her to raise our children and enjoyed her grandchildren. Thank you Gary.

I am saddened beyond words to find this obituary for Dr. Schabacker. We no longer live in El Paso and I was unaware of his passing. I worked as the Office Manager and office RN for Dr. Schabacker and Dr. Harris for many years. I have never known finer surgeons than Dr. Schabacker and Dr. Harris. I have never known a finer person that Dr. Schabacker. Although the practice was so busy, Dr. Schabacker never came into the office without a smile..... and usually a joke. It was my great honor...

Dr. Schabacker and Dr Harris are the two surgeons that I most admired and trusted. I was blessed to know them when I first started to work at Sierra Medical Center and as I time went by I grew to love and admire them more and more each day - Best surgeons ever. God has an awesome doctor in heaven. RIP

I am so sorry to hear that such a great man has passed. He truly was an angel of mercy. I can truthfully say that Dr Schabacker And Dr Harris saves my mother's life when I was 11 years old. I remember this big red headed giant of a man come into the surgery waiting area to tell my Dad that my mom will live after emergency surgery. They were in there for a very long time. I cried and Dr Schabacker came over and gave me a big hug. I will never forget that I went into nursing later on when I was...

I'm so very sorry to learn this! He was the kindest, most compassionate doctor I've ever known! The world has lost a great man, but the heavens have gained a very bright star! May God bless your family and help your hearts to heal.

A wonderful Surgeon. He and Dr. Harris were a great team. I saw the outcome of his patients from my many years at PMH. R.I.P Dr. You have earned it.
