George Bader Obituary

George David Bader

Austin, TX - George David Bader of Austin, Texas passed away peacefully on February 8, 2018, surrounded by his beloved family. George was born on June 27, 1946 in Watertown, South Dakota to John Henry and Hila Elizabeth Bader of Clear Lake, SD. He graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1964 where he excelled in sports. He attended the University of South Dakota, where he was a member of the Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. He graduated in 1969 with a B.S. in Education and a minor in Business Administration. There he met Virginia Tauber, and they married in 1970.

George owned Bader Construction, Inc., an agricultural contracting company where he was a top sales producer for Butler Grain Systems. He later founded and operated Fenix Grain of Sinton, TX.

George enjoyed skiing, as well as playing and watching all sports. He especially loved watching his son and grandsons as they excelled in their sports. His passion for history was always evident, as was his love of Corvettes.

Family describe George as a compassionate spirit with a kind and generous heart, a sharp wit and a great sense of humor. He was devoted to his family and was always there when needed.

George is survived by his daughter, Katie Bader, his son, David (Maria) Bader and their mother, Virginia Bader, all of Austin, TX, sisters Bonnie Clark of Corrales, NM and Joyce (Fred) Yamagata, of Boulder City, NV, grandchildren Jake and Luke Riezebeek and John Henry and Vivian Bader, all of Austin, TX. He is preceded in death by his parents and brother George William.

A memorial service will be held this summer in Clear Lake, SD. Additional information will be published by Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home of Austin, TX at www.wcfish.com. Family requests any memorials be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF, in George's name. www.jdrf.org.

The family wishes to thank the numerous nurses, doctors and staff at St. David's North Austin Medical Center, the Austin Diagnostic Clinic and Park Bend Health Center for the loving and compassionate care they provided to George over the last five years of his life.

As my only brother, George was someone I always looked up to, and his passing leaves me with great sadness. He was, among other things, one of the 'coolest' big brothers anyone could have growing up ... and his example left me a high bar to follow in high school and beyond. He was extremely loyal and generous to his family, to a fault sometimes, and always stood ready to help any of us, as we might need, no questions asked. He was, above all else, a GOOD man with a BIG heart and wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by us all. May he finally be at peace and know freedom from his onerous physical impairments.

To the family and friends of George David Bader, please accept my sympathy. May you find comfort knowing that those who died, God keeps them in his memory. And at Psalms 116:15 they are precious in his eyes.

Dear Ginny and Children,
In addition to my previous note of condolences, please know that I have this date made a donation to jdrf.org in memory of George. My expectation is that they will notify you of that donation.

Reminiscing today about all the times we Bader kids spent together on Sundaysvisiting everyone's families on the farms, playing baseball, and enjoying all our moms' cooking. Four of us cousins, including George, were the same age, and we had so much fun together. Will always remember his smile and friendship. Marilyn Bader, Eagan, MN 2/15/18
