George Boozer Obituary

George Thomas Boozer Sr. George Thomas Boozer Sr., of Columbia passed away April 16, 2014. Son of the late James Rezin Boozer and Velma Hair Boozer, he was born March 2, 1924. Tom attended USC as a student of Drafting and Surveying before entering the Navy. He served on the USS President Monroe in the Pacific from 1943-1946 where he earned the American Area Camp Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Camp Medal (2 stars), the Philippine Liberation Ribbon, and Victory Medal. He then worked for Pulliam Ford Motor Company as a manager for 37 years. After retiring in 1983, he and his wife Grace traveled extensively all over the world. Tom was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church and later Good Shepherd Lutheran Church where he was active in the Men's Group, Live Wire, and Sunday School. He was a Mason of Eau Claire Lodge No. 344 AFM. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Grace Wessinger Boozer of Columbia. He is predeceased by his sister, Virginia Jones of TN and survived by his brother, Jimmy Boozer of Lexington and his sister, Miriam Robinette of West Virginia. He is also survived by: his three sons, Tommy Boozer, Jr. (Dee) of Meggett, Jimmy Boozer (Robin) of Beaufort, and Reggie Boozer (Lisa) of Columbia; two grandchildren, Brooke Ingram (Jamie) and Jessica Pahl (Bryan); and two great-grandchildren, Tripp and Gabby. The family wishes to thank the staff of HomeInstead and Day Break for their support and care. Also the staff of the CICU of Providence Hospital, you were so loving, caring, and helpful to our Dad. Thank you so much. Services for Tom will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association SC Chapter, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia SC 29169 or Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 3909 Forest Drive, Columbia SC 29204.
