Read MoreGeorge hired me as a radio producer in 1964 at WAMU-FM, where I wrote and produced - and aired, with Susan Stamberg - a daily news/features program we called "Kaleidoscope." I've always remembered him as my mentor and friend, and the person who got me started on a long broadcasting career. I was proud to work with him, and will always remember his professionalism and human spirit.
