George hired me as a radio producer in 1964 at WAMU-FM, where I wrote and produced - and aired, with Susan Stamberg - a daily news/features program we called "Kaleidoscope." I've always remembered him as my mentor and friend, and the person who got me started on a long broadcasting career. I was proud to work with him, and will always remember his professionalism and human spirit.

My mentor. His kindness, friendship and attention at WAMU and throughout my years in broadcasting have never been forgotten. My condolences to family and friends.
