STRUTHERS - George Horvath Sr., 72, died peacefully Saturday, July 6, 2024, at Masternick Memorial Nursing Home, surrounded by his loving family.
He was born on December 19, 1951, in Youngstown, the son of the late George and Martha (Kolvachick) Horvath.
A graduate of Struthers High School in 1970, George furthered his education by earning a degree as an Electrician Tech from New Castle School of Trades.
George led a fulfilling life marked by dedication to his work and faith. He worked as a journeyman/millwright for RMI and Sheet and Tube for many years, showcasing his skills and hardworking nature.
Faith played a significant role in George's life, being an active member of St. Paul the Apostle Church. He found solace and purpose in his religious beliefs and generously contributed to the church community by assisting in making pierogi—a task he undertook with joy and dedication.
Among George's proudest accomplishments was his strong connection to his Croatian heritage, a source of pride that he carried throughout his life.
In his leisure time, George indulged in hobbies such as fishing and spending quality moments with his grandchildren, whom he cherished dearly. He was a member of the Happy Seniors Bowling League, Seniors Bowling League at Holiday Bowl, and the Mahoning Sportsman Club. Cooking brought him immense joy, especially when cooking for others.
George's first wife, Deborah Ann (Gasior) Horvath, whom he married on February 9, 1974, sadly preceded him in death on September 17, 2014. He was also preceded in death by his siblings Cathy Louk and Mike Horvath.
He is survived by his loving wife, Diane Hurite Horvath, whom he married on August 11, 2016; daughter Casey (Matthew) Haus of Struthers; sons George (Rosa) Horvath Jr. of Palm Bay, FL, Daniel Horvath of Melbourne and Dr. Mark (Candace) Horvath of Canfield; sister Sue Lenhart of Ft.
