Not sure what to say?

Almost forgot Sleept Floyd!

George was a joy to watch as he triggered the start of Carroll's amazing game winning streak. Even better person later in life. Wrote about George and the team for the old Washington Star. There are few left who realize the greatness of the teams that included George, John Thompson, Tom Hoover, Monk Meloy and John Austin. Take my word for it, they were the real deal. I think I saw aad wrote about almost every one of the games that were played locally. Coch Bob Dwyer put together a great team....

I had the pleasure playing on the same team at John Carroll with George. I was happy to be on the same team with a gentleman and an unbelievable basketball champion. God bless him.

I had the pleasure to play for Coach Leftwich at Archbishop Carroll H. S. Coach Leftwich taught me how to play and win basketball games but most importantly he taught me about life. He led me to College and then encourage me to attend graduate school. I decided to attend graduate school when he told me we could be in class together. REST IN PEACE Coach Leftwich you will be missed.

But George got his revenge the following year when Archbishop Carroll went on a 54-game winning streak including the win (a drubbing according to the press) over Cardozo in the City Championship game played in Cole Field House at the University of Maryland. He was a...

In whatever capacity I ran into George over the last nearly 60 years (opposing coach, referee, timekeeper, summer league czar) there was always a big smile on his face...this world has lost a special guy...RIP coach!

Love you all family

my condolences to his family. I was fortunate enough to have played for George in his early years at Carroll 69-71. George was an outstanding teacher and leader whose lessons were not only helpful on the court but in life off the court. I proudly admit that I was one of many that lost to George in one on one (George allowed his players in those early years to challenge him ONCE) . George also taught me if you needed to merge in traffic, pick on a real expensive car - they had more to lose....

He was my Sociology teacher at Carroll and coached our JV Basketball team for one game. It was an honor be in his presence during those times. Condolences to his family, former teammates and students, May he rest in glory!
