My condolences go to Jane and the family for their great loss. George hired me when I got out of the Army in 1967, and was my Boss and Mentor at Columbus Iron Works and a great friend thereafter for as long as he was alive. I played football at Ga Tech from 1958-1962, and George Mathews was a legend at Ga Tech. I would like express our sincere condolences to Jane and family. George is one of the truly great entrepreneurs of our time. I consider myself very fortunate to have know and worked with him.

The world has lost a great leader. George took time, to talk and listen to everyone that worked under him. Too few of the leaders in business today have that quality.

Mathews family. I am one of the privileged who knew, worked and admired George Mathews in the early CFI days. His professionalism, visions and wit are memories that will be treasured. I wish you peace and comfort in your loss.

I echo the comments of my friends at INTERMET Columbus Foundries. George's leadership qualities, positive attitude, love of business, and love of people influenced my life and the lives of many others. I have many fond memories of George which I cherish and reflect upon frequently. God will bless the legacy George left us all. Thank you George!

George was President of Phi Delta Theta and friend and leader during my earliest years at Ga. Tech. We enjoyed a warm relationship through the years. He was one of the most outstanding people that I have ever known.
