George or "Pee-eye" as he was fondly referred to by his relatives in the north was one of the most wonderful individuals I ever met. I remember meeting George for the first time over thirty five years ago, before I was even an extended member of the family, how welcoming and engaging and how I enjoyed sitting and talking into the night with both George and Betty. Uncle George was a very nice guy. He drove up to Illinois to see my mom, Mabel Lee, his niece, often when I was a kid. He was always smiling and he was so gentle with us kids. I got a kick out of his Southern accent too! He and Aunt Nannie came to watch me play a softball game on one of their visits! I was thrilled!
