George or "Pee-eye" as he was fondly referred to by his relatives in the north was one of the most wonderful individuals I ever met. I remember meeting George for the first time over thirty five years ago, before I was even an extended member of the family, how welcoming and engaging and how I enjoyed sitting and talking into the night with both George and Betty. Being 600 miles away we did not get to see George as much as we wanted to but we enjoyed the times we had, he will be missed. Our thoughts and prayers are with you Betty.

Uncle George was a very nice guy. He drove up to Illinois to see my mom, Mabel Lee, his niece, often when I was a kid. He was always smiling and he was so gentle with us kids. I got a kick out of his Southern accent too! He and Aunt Nannie came to watch me play a softball game on one of their visits! I was thrilled! I enjoyed chatting with Uncle George and Nannie about UT women's basketball, they were both dedicated fans. I recall visiting them at their home in Tennessee and we made homemade ice cream. I'd never seen that done and it's a memory I will always carry with me. In George's later years my mom and dad would drive down to Tennessee almost every summer to visit George and Nannie. It was always a pleasure to hear about Mom and Dad's visits to see them and I know Nannie and George very much looked forward to my parents' visits. My thoughts are with George's family and especially Aunt Nannie. You and George were together for a very long time. True love it was...
