When I was 7, Mr Verwys's son Chris threw a baseball at my head during Vestal Junior Baseball League practice, I don't think I realized I was supposed to catch it. With my lip gushing I remember clearly Mr Verwys rushing over to help in his calm mild manner way he did things. Over the years me and Chris became best friends and I always remember Mr Verwys being there to take his turn hulling us kids around. I have many great memories of George from work at IBM, one was a trip to Norfolk where he took me to a place for huge oysters on the half shell.
